Fintiri appoints Prof Danjuma rector of Adamawa Polytechnic
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has approved the appointment of Professor Ibrahim Danjuma as the new Rector of Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola.
The appointment followed a recommendation by the institution’s Governing Council at its 35th emergency meeting.
Danjuma succeeds Professor Mohammed Dahiru Toungos, whose tenure expired in March 2026.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou.
Congratulating the new rector, Fintiri urged him to uphold academic excellence, discipline and integrity in the discharge of his responsibilities.
The governor also charged Danjuma to deploy his wealth of academic and administrative experience towards strengthening the institution and improving its capacity to respond to emerging technological developments.
He emphasised the importance of innovation and institutional development, particularly as tertiary institutions face increasing demands to equip students with practical skills relevant to the modern economy.
According to the statement, the governor expects the new rector to contribute to the advancement of the polytechnic in line with his administration’s commitment to revitalising the education sector across Adamawa State.
Fintiri further urged the new rector to prioritise academic standards and institutional discipline while promoting an environment conducive to teaching, learning and technological innovation.
The governor wished Danjuma a successful and productive tenure as he assumes responsibility for the leadership of the state-owned institution.
The appointment marks a leadership transition at Adamawa State Polytechnic following the expiration of Toungos’s tenure earlier this year.
