Leaked Video misrepresented Bindow statement-Palace Source
A Council member of Mubi emirate has described the leaked video where Gov. Bindow was quoted to have threaten the Emir of Mubi as propaganda and falsehood sponsor by the Governors opponents, the source spoke exclusively to The Finder Newspaper on a condition of anonymity told this news medium that “the leaked video was recorded in the Palace of the monarch,
“that video was during a courtesy call to the Emir by the Governor, the meeting started by the Governor advising the Emirate and it subject on the need to vote the man that ended the streak of Boko haram in Mubi, Bindow told everyone present in the palace that, before the advent of Buhari tenure as president of Nigeria, Boko haram ransacked the entire Mubi and it environment and later converted the palace to operational headquarters before they were dislodge by Buhari.
“He told the august gathering that he sees no reason why every sons and daughters of Mubi will not vote Buhari and that if not Buhari the entire Emirate would have been in total disarray up till now. It was to our surprise that we saw video surfaced online where the entire discussion between the Emir and the Governor was completely doctored by his opponents that are already jittery and want to dent his image at all cost.
Because the two major contender in the race are regular guest to the EFCC. How can the Governor visit and threaten the Emir in his palace? The source queried. The source said that Bindow could never have uttered what was ascribed to him. He said that in a desperate attempt to paint him in bad light, the reports grossly mistranslated his statements to imply desperation over 2019 election.
“Politics is an arena where mischief and exaggeration may not be the best craft but are permitted excesses of the trade. However, when people engage in willful defamation, they have crossed the line into the impermissible.
“I addressed a meeting attended by hundreds of people. The meeting was open to the public at large. Moreover, the media was present and visible. There can be no leak involved when a statement is publicly made and the media present there.
“The reports claim that Bindow threaten to dethroned the Emir if he fails to support APC. The merchants of this outlandishness used the fact that the Governor was speaking Hausa at the meeting as the basis for their falsehood.
“Thus, Hausa speakers are left to accept their translation of my words. Had Bindow spoken in English, they would not have had a story to sell, for the emir words clearly did not say what they claim,” he said in a statement.
