APC makes u-turn directs members to participate in supplementary election

The ruling APC in Adamawa has called on its supporters to get prepared and participate in the governorship supplementary election slated for March 28, 2019 in in the state. Alhaji Ahmed Lawal, State Organising Secretary of the party gave the directive on Wednesday in an interview with Journalists in Yola. Lawal said that the party has reviewed its earlier decision to boycott the poll, resolved to fully participate in the rerun.

He said that though INEC refused to heed to their call, boast that the party would still win the supplementary election. He appealed to the APC family and supporters not to be deterred by the antics of the INEC, and go out en mass to vote the party for the governorship rerun election. “Having consulted all the party stakeholders, we have resolved to participate in the supplementary election fixed for tomorrow. “Our early boycott threat was not out of fear but to encouraged participation by other political parties who had been taken unaware for the supplementary election. ” To us, we will participate and win the rerun even as INEC refused to rescind their unilateral decision to fix the rerun for tomorrow.

“We appeal to APC supporters to come and vote APC massively so as to record victory in the election.”Adamawa is APC state and with the developmental strides recorded by Gov. Mohammed Bindow is a sure qualification for winning in an election,’ Lawal said. It will recall that the state chapter of the APC earlier rejected the March 28 date fixed by INEC for the conduct of the supplementary election in 44 polling unit in the state. APC also threatened boycott for the election if INEC refused to cancel the slated date. The date was foxed sequel to the vacation of a court order restraining INEC from conducting a governorship supplementary election in the state.
