Group tells Messer Fintiri, A.T Shehu to leave Bindow alone, says his government losing direction

The Arewa Peace Coalition, APC, has called on Gov. Fintiri and his party chairman in Adamawa state, A.T Shehu to stop blaming his predecessor, Senator Jibrilla Bindow and focus on his government which is “losing direction.”

A statement by its Coordinator, Abdulkadir Mohammed said the PDP in Adamawa should pay more attention to the prevalent issues among which are lopsided appointments and the economic hardship facing Adamawa state.

The group urged Fintiri to discourage the “current negative campaign” against Bindow and focus on improving the quality of lives of Adamawa residents.

It also advised Fintiri to acknowledge some of the successes of his predecessor and consolidate on them.

The statement reads,“Adamawa residents didn’t vote Fintiri to come and give excuses on why he cannot perform… they believed he was capable and particularly fit for the job of governor.

“Since you won the 2019 election, we have been waking up almost every day to hear stories about how Bindow did this and Bindow did that. We have become tired and fed up.

“When will we begin to hear what Fintiri has done? When will we begin to hear of what Fintiri and his party has done to salvage Adamawa?

“Bashing Bindow at every opportunity has not solved any of the problems you met as governor. Adamawa residents have already voted Bindow out. They are disappointed that weeks after Bindow has left, there is no day that the Fintiri and his party chairman, and A.T Shehu does not attempt to feast on Bindow. Why then did we vote for you?

“Mr Shehu, there were quite a few successes of the Bindow administration. Youy party the PDP should acknowledge those successes and use them to your advantage.

“And then work to correct and avoid the mistakes that dogged the Bindow administration. That is how successful State work.

“Please leave Bindow alone. Your party should go around the state and ascertain things for yourself. Weeks years into your administration, you are yet to visit more than 10 local government in Adamawa.”

The group also advice the governor not to leave out any section of the state in his appointments.

“Appoint a competent team to assist you in the onerous task of fixing Adamawa. Appoint people in every nook and cranny of Adamawa.

“The Fintiri administration must not be over-saturated by people from CAN and margi extraction part of the state or people who share a peculiar history with you.

“You are now a governor of Adamawa state NOT a religious, margi or CAN governor. You are governor over Muslims the same way you are governor over Christians.

“It is with great discomfort that we write you this piece. In 2014, many of us came out in large numbers to vote for you before the court finally sending you packing and install Bala Ngillari because we believed that things would change for the better if you became governor of Adamawa state.

“When you ascended to the position of the governor. We rejoiced across the streets of Yola. Some of our kinsmen organised prayer to celebrate your win in the 2019 elections.

“Weeks into your administration, everything has turned on its head. The street of Yola has been enveloped with darkness, minimum wage that you promised to be the first governor to implement still hanging, civil servants received their salary the following month. The quality of education has nosedived. Access to affordable health care has become a problem. Farmers are no longer encouraged to go to their farms. Nothing seems to be working.”
