‘Your visitation panel report on State Polytechnic is self-serving’, CSO tells Fintiri

CSO say visitation panel report shows an agenda for the victimization of the Rector, State polytechnic, Prof. Ibrahim for non-payment of 66 million naira to the company allegedly link to the governor.

Some youth from the Northeast region under the aegis of the Northeast Youth Congress, NEYC, on Tuesday described the visitation panel report on the Adamawa state polytechnic, Yola as self-serving and incapable of meeting the expectations of the people.

The youth, in a statement issued in Abuja by its National Coordinator, Israel Ibrahim, said the visitation panel was constituted to victimise the Rector for not paying the remaining 66 million to the company allegedly link to the governor.

They also faulted the composition and performance of visitation panel, saying the conduct of the panel members shows that that they are on revenge mission to disgrace the Rector for insisting that the right thing be done by completing the project before payment.

NEYC said that though the polytechnic is in need of funding but the panel never look at it from that angle, the timing, composition, guidelines/framework of the visitation panel is wrong.

Mr. Ibrahim said rather than forcing the panel report down the throat of the people for some selfish reasons, Gov. Fintiri who frowned at what he called political interference in the state institutions by his predecessor want to tow same path by removing the Rector for political and economic reason.

“Why should Gov. Fintiri, who claims that he means well for Adamawa people, propose that the polytechnic need sole administrator?

“Is it not a shame to see panel members make utterances that are demeaning of their status as elder statesmen and women? Nigerians have indeed watched with keen interest to understand the substance of the visitation panel report and its impact in changing the economic woes of the polytechnic” the group stated.

The group noted that a review of the policy frame work and guidelines of the visitation panel showed an agenda for the victimization of the Rector by imposing sole administrator on the polytechnic as to effect the payment of the 66 million remaining to be the company allegedly link to the governor.

“The panel report does not represent the general interest of the people. The panel is meant to serve some political interests as well as ample opportunity to continue with the impunity of alleged reckless stealing from the state’ treasury.

“A state where the so called elder statesmen decide to make utterances that demean and make nonsense the much talked about educational reform under Fintiri, therefore the future of Adamawa youths is indeed hanging in the balance.

“It is obvious that our future as young people of this great state cannot be anchored on the shoulders of these individuals believed to be addressing issues that affect us, it is already an effort in futility,” the group stated.
