Fintiri holds induction for 23 commissioners-designate today

The Adamawa State Government today holds one-day induction for its 23 commissioners-designate, the essence of the induction is to acquaint the commissioners on the tasks ahead of them, declaring the event open at the Murtala Nyako Centre, Yola.

 

The Executive Governor of Adamawa state, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, stated that the induction is part of the programs designed to get the best out of the state executive council. He noted that the primary objective of his administration is good governance and strict adherence to rules and procedures, transparency and accountability.

 

Represent by his Deputy, Chief Crowther Seth, Governor Fintiri said that over the years, the state has suffered from the crisis of underdevelopment against the background of its untapped abundant natural and human resources. Therefore, he charged his prospective cabinet members to prepare to work hard to end this unacceptable state of affairs by putting in their wealth of experiences to gear towards transforming their dear state to greater height.

 

He maintained that “it is our plan to chart a new course of the state, and in the next few weeks, we will unveil our strategic development plans for the overall socioeconomic development of the state, where top government functionaries will be engaged in a retreat for better understanding of government policy direction and its programs in critical sectors of economy,” he boasted.

 

The Governor used the opportunity to advise the incoming council members to always seek the support and advice of the technocrats (Permanent Secretaries) of the various areas of primary assignment where they will soon be assigned to serve the state.

 

He maintained that the purpose of the induction exercise is to introduce, as well as familiarise them with the processes, procedures and etiquettes of the public service domain and also to introduce them to the techniques of budgeting and its implementation and ensuring Fiscal Discipline in the management of public resources. Hence, the need to take the exercise in all seriousness and share experiences freely.
