House of assembly member organises unity football competition to boost unity in Adamawa state

The member representing Demsa state constituency in the Adamawa state house of assembly, Kate Mamuno has organised a unity football competition among Youths from Demsa local government.

Speaking at the inauguration of the event on Saturday, Demsa, Mamuno said She decided to organise the competition as a way of promoting peace, unity and hunt for talents at the grassroots.

She said that the competition was also born out of her desire to give back to her consistency that made her “what she is in the society today.”

“Football is something that unites people together irrespective of their faith. It is something that you find people supporting with a common mission. While playing, your mission always is to win, you don’t care who score whether he is a Christian or a Muslim but your goal is to win.”

“So we hope and pray that after this tournament, our youths will unite themselves,” she said.

The lawmaker added that “this is an opportunity for our youths to showcase their God’s given talents for the world to see. Demsa is blessed with talented youths that can represent this nation at various levels.

So she stated that this tournament is an opportunity for their youths to display their talents for the world to see. She commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for the creation of Ministry for Entrepreneurship Development to empower the youths and women of the state; Hon. Mamuno stated that this competition is in line with the eleven point’s agenda of the governor.

She noted that at the end of this tournament, best player, goalkeeper, highest goals scorers and many deserving awards will be presented. Therefore, she charged the participants to behave themselves well and urged the officials to ensure justice for all. The opening match featured Demsa ward and Dong ward where they played a barrens draw.
