COVID-19: NASG imposes total lockdown on Nasarawa LG, as use of face masks becomes compulsory

The Nasarawa State Government has imposed a total lockdown on Nasarawa Local Government Area, hometown of the lawmaker that died as a result of COVID-19.

State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Comrade Dogo Shammah, disclosed this while briefing the press shortly after an expanded meeting to review measures put in place to contain the further spread of the pandemic, at the Government House, on Tuesday.

This is just as the state government made the use of face mask in public compulsory starting from tomorrow.

Explaining further, the state Commissioner of Health, Pharmacist Ahmed Baba Yaya, said the lo down, which will last for three days, is to enable medical personnel to conclude contact tracing of all those linked to the late lawmaker from the area.

Commenting further, State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Associate Professor Abdulkarim Abubakar Kana, announced the lifting of the lockdown in Karu Local Government Area.

Prof. Kana emphasized that the decision was taken because the essence of the lockdown has been attained.

A curfew has however been imposed on Karu, from 8pm to 6am.

The Attorney General however said that all other restrictions, including the ban on all social and religious gatherings remain banned.
