Again Group accuses MAU, VC, Prof. Tukur of ‘unwarranted meddlesomeness’ in Fintiri’s government.

The chairman, Centre for leaders Evaluation and accountability forum, CLEAF, Pwanovi Mathias, has accused the Vice-Chancellor, Modibbo Adamawa University, Yola, Liman Tukur, of “unwarranted meddlesomeness” on matters of appointments and contracts in Fintiri’s government.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday, the CSO scribe urged Governor Fintiri to desist from taking further contracts or appointments directive from Mr Tukur, accusing the Vice-Chancellor of recommending only members of modibbo Adamawa University for positions and contracts to Fintiri.

Despite clear evidence that he lacks electoral value to garner support for the Governor in 2023, Tukur continues to call a shot on who gets what in Fintiri’s government.

The statement read in part: “Prof Tukur is not a presiding head of Adamawa appointments and contracts neither is he sworn to an oath as Governor of Adamawa state.

“As such, unprofessional practices such as recommending people for appointments or contracts to the exclusion of the commissioner whose responsibility of advising the Governor on appointments of heads of higher institutions.

The CSO alleged that Tukur also has upsurge powers of an administrator whose job is to recommend contractors to the Governor is a violation of the Constitution and directly undermines the Governor’s authority.

“Such acts and continuous meddlesomeness by the Vice-Chancellor have not only ruptured our trust in the ability of the Governor to govern the state without a godfather but have slowed down any meaningful gain that the Governor has sought to achieve.”

The last paragraph of the three-page statement read: “Pursuant to the foregoing; you are by this press release directed to desist from these illegal acts that serve nothing but the continuous undermining of the Governor’s framework. Any breach of this directive will attract the displeasure of the Adamawa electorate against the Governor in 2023.
