Fintiri redeems automatic promotion pledge to Headteacher that resisted politicians from hijacking school environment for political gathering in Mubi.

Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, governor of Adamawa State, has redeemed his pledge of automatic promotion to Headteacher of Yelwa Primary, Mubi Ibrahim Adamu, for resisting attempts by Ishaku Abbo led faction of the All Progressive Congress in Mubi penultimate week to ransack his school for a political gathering.

 

Fintiri had on Wednesday last week announced the approval for automatic promotion for the Headteacher of Yelwa Primary School, Mubi, Ibrahim Adamu, for rebuffing a faction of the All Progressive Congress led by Abbo to send the pupil home for a botch party congress in Mubi.

 

The Finder report that immediately the pledge by the Governor, Dr Ateequ Salihi, led Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board, swung into action to locate the Headteacher, Ibrahim Adamu and also commending him for not allowing politicians that place a premium on their political ambition than future of the children to hijack the school for political purpose.

 

According to Solomon Kumangar, special aide to the governor, the letter of automatic promotion was presented to the headmaster by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri at the Adamawa state government house, Yola, on Monday.

 

Governor Fintiri reiterated that the gesture fulfils his earlier promise to reward any teacher in the state that pays attention to the future of the children as education form a larger part of his campaign pledge to the electorate.

 

Fintiri, described the politicisation of the school’s environment by politicians as unacceptable and should be condemned by every right-thinking Nigerian, said the state government would not tolerate any political gathering that will jeopardise the future of the children for the inordinate ambition of any politicians.

 

“As an administration that matches her words with action, I have decided to redeem that promise and to present automatic promotion letter to the Headteacher that resisted pressure from politicians to send his pupils home for a political gathering.

 

Governor Fintiri assured that his administration would leave no stone unturned to revitalise the education sector under his watch.

 

In his response, Dr Ateequ Salihi, Chairman, Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board, thanked Governor Fintiri for fulfilling his promise.

 

He said the priority given to ADSUBEB and the education sector by the governor is unprecedented as no administration in the state history has contributed so much too basic education like this government in Adamawa. According to him, matching grant payments has never been delay since the coming of Governor Fintiri.
