Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State restated his vow to hand over a new Adamawa state to his successor in 2027.

Fintiri declared his intention to seek a second term of office in 2023 during the swearing ceremony of the newly elected 21 council chairpersons at Ribadu square in Yola.

He declared at the Ribadu Square in the state capital Yola after swearing in 21 local government chairmen, all of PDP, elected in council elections conducted earlier on Saturday.

Fintiri said his decision to seek a second term as governor arose from the support and urging he had been getting from the people, some of whom even mobilised and bought the necessary nomination and expression of interest forms.

He said he had worked hard in the last three years as governor to recreate a more functional Adamawa State and would need a second term to consolidate on governance.
