Fintiri empowers 10,000 women, youths in Adamawa.

The government of Adamawa state has helped 10,000 locals, mostly young people and women, establish and grow their own micro, small, and medium-sized businesses.

On Tuesday, the governor made the announcement at Ribadu Square in Yola, where participants in an empowerment programme were receiving certificates of completion and celebrating their newfound independence.

Mr. Fintiri characterised the action as just one of many goodwill initiatives from the state government.

He explained that the training was designed to help diversify Adamawa’s economy, change people’s attitudes, and create jobs for women and young people.

The governor added that the training, meant to ready the participants for the upcoming tasks, lasted for days and was held in Yola, the state capital.

Mr. Fintiri stated that each participant received between N10,000 and N50,000, and that the funds would be deposited directly into the bank accounts provided by the participants.

He added that the goal of the package was to help the trainees apply the knowledge they gained at the workshop to the launch of their own micro or small business.

The governor remarked that the programme was designed to impart both theoretical and practical knowledge, equip participants with necessary skills, guarantee their independence and social competence, and promote their participation in society.

In response, a resident of Michika named Esther Ayuba thanked the governor for the effort.

she vowed to use everything she had learned in the course.

Aishatu Abubakar, another programme participant from Fufore, echoed this sentiment, saying that the programme would help the region’s young people transition from job seekers to job creators, as was the goal of the Adamawa state government.
