“You lacked the university education required to comprehend societal events.” Adamawa’s Information Commissioner blasts Ishaku Abbo.
The residents of Adamawa awoke to a bang as a result of an illegal action by the resident electoral commissioner of INEC in Adamawa, Barr. Yunusa Hudu Ari, who smashed into the collation centre and illegally declared Binani as the governor in violation of the rules and laws governing election declaration in Nigeria.
The INEC national headquarters recognised the irregularity committed by its resident electoral commissioner in Adamawa and quickly annulled Yunusa Ari’s illegal declaration.
The national commissioner in charge of voter education and information stated yesterday that the REC’s declaration in Adamawa is null and void and has no effect, and that the commission will hold a meeting on Tuesday before travelling to Adamawa to complete the collation process and declaration.
Okoye stated that the REC has hijacked the powers of the returning officers and that the REC does not have the authority to return a candidate.
In a television programme watched by our reporter, “Sunrise Daily,” Adamawa’s commissioner for information, Umar Garba Pella, got into a heated argument with Ishaku Abbo, telling him that he judged people based on his school certificate standards and that Abbo lacked the university education required to understand societal happenings.
Two of the hosts asked Abbo if Yunusa Hudu’s declaration was legitimate; Abbo was unable to provide a response, forcing the panellists to interrupt the programme.
