Fintiri proclaims a 24-hour curfew as hoodlums target Yola stores.
Following the abrupt attack on persons and property by hoodlums in areas of the state, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has imposed a 24-hour curfew on the whole state.
“On today, July 30th, 2023, the entire state has been placed under a 24-hour curfew.”
“A 24-hour curfew has been imposed on the entire Adamawa state, with immediate effect,” he said.
According to trustworthy sources, hoodlums went on the rampage in the early hours of Sunday morning, attacking shops and carting away goods.
Suleiman Nguroje, the state Police Public Relations Officer, verified the incidences and stated that the police could not immediately provide detailed information but vowed to do so in due time.
The governor extended the embargo to the entire state, according to a statement published by the governor’s chief press secretary, Humwashi Wonosoiku.
“Earlier today, some hoodlums attacked and destroyed private shops, attacking individuals in some parts of the state,” said the chief press secretary. Another gang was on the loose on Numan Road, disrupting public order and causing property damage.”
Governor Fintiri insisted that his administration would not stand by helplessly if miscreants disrupted the state’s current tranquillity.
