Lagbaja praised for their accomplishments in the field.
Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), has praised troops of Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai in the North East Theatre of Operations for their operational victories thus far.
Lagbaja issued the praise upon his arrival in Maiduguri on Friday for an operational trip to review the security situation and energise the soldiers’ ongoing counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations.
This was said by Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, on Friday.
Nwachukwu stated that the Theatre Commander, Maj.-Gen. Golden Chibuisi, briefed the COAS on the current security situation in the North East, ongoing operational activities to clear terrorists from their enclaves in the Lake Chad region and the Mandara mountains, as well as the outfit’s challenges.
The COAS said that new patterns in terrorist activity had been seen, noting that they were now resorting to kidnapping for ransom, pillaging for supplies, and assaulting civilians with improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
He pledged that combat enablers will be given to support current operations in order to secure greater regional stability.
“As the COAS continues his operational tour of the North East Theatre of Operations,” he stated, “we will continue to bring you updates.”
