NRC sacks demotes staff for ticket racketeering.

Those employees of the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) who were involved in the sale of tickets were demoted or fired.

During an interactive session with the House of Representatives Committee on Finance, Mr. Fidet Okhiria, the Managing Director of NRC, revealed this information.

He said that the company is working with security agencies to solve the problem.

A discussion over the necessity of self-funding to finance operations and return surpluses to the government arose after committee chairman Rep. James Faleke voiced concern over the corporation’s inadequate N345 million in revenue remitted in 2023.

We are worried that something is wrong if NRC isn’t bringing in the expected amount of money.

He advocated for the railway to be self-sufficient in order to run its operations and send any excess money back to the government.
