FG elevates 32,361 paramilitary personnel to higher ranks.
The promotion of 32,361 workers from the four services has been approved by the Board of Immigration, Civil Defence, Fire, and Correctional Services.
On Friday in Abuja, the details of the promotions were released by Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of the Interior, through Dr. Ahmed Audi, Commandant General of the NSCDC.
There were 7,000 wardens who took the promotion test, and 4,498 of them were from the Nigerian Correctional Service.
There were 4,598 promoted immigration officers out of 6,544 and 1,680 promoted fire fighters out of 1,698 who took the promotion exams.
However, out of 25,951 candidates, 21,385 from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were promoted. This means that the majority of those promoted were from this branch.
According to the minister, this was the first time the board had ever promoted so many officers at once.
The recipients were exhorted by Tunji-Ojo to dedicate themselves to the nation’s service.
“You should view this promotion as an exciting opportunity to advance in your role; with great responsibility comes great responsibility, and as the saying goes, ‘to whom much is given, much is expected’,” he continued.
