NAHCON Boss Tasks Pilgrim Boards on Reducing 2024 Hajj Fare

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) Acting Chairman, Malam Jalal Ahmad Arabi, has urged the State Pilgrims’ Welfare Agencies, Boards and Commissions (SPWBs) to investigate methods to lower the Hajj price in 2024.

While hosting the SPWBS and Armed Forces Executive Secretaries/Chairmen at Hajj House in Abuja on Thursday, the Chairman made this appeal.

The figures will dictate the next course of action, thus he also asked that they transfer the funds collected to the NAHCON Central Bank Account.

“Since there is no time to wait, please transfer the full amount to your accounts so that the Commission can arrange the pre-Hajj visit and negotiate the services that our intending pilgrims need,” he said.

He promised that the consequence of their measures to lower the Hajj fare in 2024 would be appreciated by the people.

The Chairman expressed sympathy for the SPWBs’ plight in making deposit payments and reiterated NAHCON’s willingness to mediate disputes between ES/Cs and their principals upon request from the Commission.

According to the Chairman, the future of the Hajj Savings Scheme would ensure coordination with Saudi Hajj regulations.

For this reason, he firmly advocated for its adoption by all states, stating, “We should indeed appreciate the value of the Hajj Savings Scheme, accept and adopt it despite some reservations so we that we can soon inculcate it in our planning as we forge ahead.”
