Acting Governor Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State Freezes LG’s Accounts
Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the acting governor of Ondo State, has frozen the bank accounts of thirty-three LCDAs and eighteen local government areas.
The acting governor reportedly gave the newly formed LCDA instructions not to open any new accounts.
According to a letter sent to the local councils, the acting governor of Ondo State has ordered a suspension of all spending and expenditure from local government funds. Until further instruction, no one may sign cheque, change signatures, or remove funds of any kind.
“Please follow the directions to the letter and follow the guidance.”
One of the council chairs, who preferred to remain anonymous, expressed concern over the new information.
He has indeed banned the municipal governments’ accounts. The reason behind his current actions is unknown to us, as the official stated.
The acting governor has appointed Deputy Chief of Staff Omojuwa Olusegun to handle the planning and signing of official engagements on his behalf.
Omojuwa has conveyed the directive from the Acting Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, to notify the State Executive Council and other high-ranking government officials that the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor will, for the time being, be in charge of preparing and signing official engagements on the governor’s behalf.
“The Chief of Protocol will assume control of this duty upon Mr. Governor’s return from his medical leave.”
