Northern faction applauds Kyari’s private security deployment.
The Northern Youth Progressive Network applauded Malam Mele Kyari, Group Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), for hiring a private firm to monitor oil facilities for theft.
On Monday, network convener Bala Mohammed announced this at a news conference on protecting the nation’s crucial oil infrastructure in Abuja.
Mohammed said the country’s oil theft was worrying and needed to be addressed immediately.
He praised Nigerian security forces for fighting oil theft and promised additional cooperation from the private security force.
“The Northern Youth Progressive Network supports our leader, Malam Mele, in hiring Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, a private security firm.
We also applaud President Bola Tinubu for renewing the contract. We assumed it would cover the entire Niger Delta.
“We consider Malam Mele Kyari’s action patriotic and noble, just like the late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua’s amnesty of Niger-Delta insurgents, which solved the problem.
“We are optimistic that Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited will permanently solve the oil theft problem in Nigeria,” he stated.
With its oil and gas deposits, the Niger Delta was vital to Nigeria’s economy, according to Mohammed.
He said the infrastructure that supported resource extraction, production, and transportation was crucial to the nation’s stability and prosperity.
“However, attacks, sabotage, and vandalism have targeted these essential oil infrastructures, causing massive economic losses and disruptions.
We also recognise that oil infrastructure security is crucial to Nigeria’s ongoing growth.
He added that we must address neighborhood grievances, environmental issues, and socio-economic issues that lead to attacks on these institutions.
Thus, Mohammed urged Tantita Security Operations to collaborate with holistic development projects to improve local communities.
He underlined the need to reduce oil spillage, which destroys local populations’ fishing and farming livelihoods.
Even though the Niger Delta is rich in natural resources, he claimed the loss of food had caused economic hardship and food insecurity.
He urged the Federal Government not to undermine Tantita Security Services’ years of devotion, which had arrested Mr. Kali at the Pennington oil platform in Bayelsa and others.
Mohammed claimed the Tantita security services had protected Nigeria’s oil industry assets, which increased crude oil output from 500 thousand barrels per day to 1.8 million.
Our opinion is that arrest, prosecution, and confiscation of liquid and valuable assets must dissuade economic saboteurs, no matter whose ox is gored, he said.
Mohammed urged the government to bring charges against anyone Tantita Security Services examined and make the investigation public to demonstrate its political resolve to combat oil theft in Nigeria.
As representatives of the North’s most important young structure, we understand the importance of secure and functional oil infrastructures for our nation’s development.
“Oil and gas revenue boosts economic growth, funds vital social activities, and employs millions of Nigerians.
Protecting these facilities is vital for the region and the nation, he said.
