Women’s day: Advancement of women is the advantage of the entire country – Gov. Fintiri

Nigerian women have been recognised for their contributions to the nation’s progress by Adamawa State Governor Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

International Women’s Day 2024, with the subject “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress,” is being celebrated around the world by women, and this recognition comes at the same time.

“The advancement of women is the advantage of the entire country,” Governor Fintiri said, echoing a statement made by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosoiku.

“There can be no meaningful development without gender equality,” the governor continued. In his remarks, he wished women a joyous celebration of the day and thanked them for always standing up for what is rightfully theirs in Nigeria.

Domestic abuse, gender-based violence, stunting and malnutrition, and unpaid care work are some of the recurring obstacles to women’s empowerment. Governor Fintiri made it clear that nothing will be left to chance in addressing these issues.

“In honour of Women’s Day, let us pause to consider how they have contributed to the overall progress and success of our nation, and let us also resolve to do what it takes to stay up with them.”

He announced that Adamawa State’s leadership is actively working to empower women and achieve gender equality, which will enable them to fully participate in the re-engineering effort.

Thanks to our government’s unwavering dedication and strong political will, Adamawa has made incredible strides in advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment.

It is no accident that on March 8th, 2024, as part of our poverty alleviation programme called “Fintiri Business Wallet,” we will be empowering 10,000 additional women with a 50,000 naira cash grant each.

Our goal is to restore hope in these women by helping them become economically prosperous so that they can provide real assistance to their families.

In 1972, the United Nations declared March 8th, International Women’s Day, to honour women for their contributions to society, the economy, culture, and politics.
