Akeredolu Wanted Me to Be His Successor, Aiyedatiwa Says in His Governing Bid

The incumbent governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has formally announced his candidature for the gubernatorial election in his state, which is scheduled for November 16, 2024.

During his Tuesday address to supporters in Akure’s Gani Fawehinmi Arcade, the governor indicated an interest in running for office on the APC ticket.

Following Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s passing on December 27, 2023, Aiyedatiwa, who was once the deputy governor of Ondo, would take over the helm.

Aiyedatiwa claims that the late Akeredolu wanted him to take over as governor of the state.

“Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, CON, and my late leader and former governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi, passed away about this time three years ago.
