Tinubu tells Nigerians: “Don’t worry about inflation; we’ll bring it down.”

President Bola Tinubu has promised Nigerians that his government will address the country’s economic woes, including taming inflation.

He assured Nigerians that they need not be concerned since he is resolute in his mission to put an end to inflation, even though he is without a magic wand.

Inflation in Nigeria has been climbing since Tinubu reinstated power in May 2023 and ununified the currency rate, removing gasoline subsidies and making life harder for the average Nigerian. According to the most recent data available from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), inflation in the county reached 31.70% in February 2024, up from 29.90% the month before.

On Wednesday, Tinubu addressed the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for 2024 Ramadan Iftar at the State House in Abuja. He stated that his government is actively attempting to turn the tide.

This is the challenging task you pledged to the Nigerian people during my campaign. Did you not assure them of a positive outcome? There is no magic wand; I must now strive for it.

I must rely on the hope that I campaigned on and continue to fight for that hope so that we can all rejoice. Do not be concerned; the economy is showing signs of improvement.

“That’s not important. The problem of inflation is real, but we will find a solution. We are improving our revenue stream through reengineering, and we are reclaiming our sovereignty and respect around the world. This doesn’t mean we have to employ foreigners to accomplish it; we are doing it ourselves.

Whatever is happening to us, we must endure it in silence. The only thing that can get us there, Tinubu emphasised, is your effort, your ideas, your investment, your commitment, and your hard work.
