Adamawa council polls: Ardo, a paper weight suffering from crushing 2023 defeat—Fintiri’s CPS
The chief press secretary to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State says the governor appears not to be losing sleep over the reported infantile outburst of Dr. Umar Ardo, the 2023 governor candidate of the SDP in Adamawa State.
On the contrary, the chief press secretary to the governor, who dismissed Ardo as a ‘political paperweight’, said it was a “crushing and humiliating defeat” he suffered in the 2023 governorship polls in Adamawa that is still intoxicating him.
The chief press secretary to the governor, Humwashi Wonosoiku, made his position known in a statement Sunday, saying the governor was not surprised about Ardo’s ill-advised comment about the just concluded council polls in Adamawa.
“We all believe that the 2023 election has concluded, and it’s time for government in Adamawa. However, I’ve come to understand that individuals like Ardo, who failed to win even his polling unit in the last governorship polls, have been suffering from sleep apnea.”
“I challenge Ardo to ask even a blind man in Adamawa if the Adamawa of today is the same as the Adamawa of yesterday, which was like a glorified local government headquarters.
I doubt if Ardo will find his house in Yola with ease due to the massive development the state witnesses every day under His Excellency, Governor Ahamdu Fintiri.
We have received several media requests for a reaction to the purported infantile outburst of Dr. Umar Ardo about the last council election in Adamawa.
Ardo’s reported statement in the press has not come to us as a surprise. Due to Ardo’s antics during the last national election in Adamawa and the council polls, it was only a matter of time.
The SDP was afraid to participate because it was not known to the Adamawa electorate as a political party. Ardo exploited all available avenues to sabotage and undermine the Fintiri-led government, which yielded no results. Indeed, all politics is local.
As a government, we understand Ardo’s confusion and despair regarding his uncertain political future, especially considering his lack of presence and status as a political figure in his home state of Adamawa.
His political master used his emergence as a governorship candidate in the last election to further their own selfish political goals. They have since moved on to pursue their individual political aspirations, leaving Ardo cold.
We would advise Ardo against his ill-advised decision to spew misinformation in the media against the governor, as a crushing and humiliating defeat awaits him anytime he feels like testing his popularity in any Adamawa election.
Governor Fintiri and his party, the PDP, remain united and committed to progressive ideologies. We strongly encourage Ardo to find solace in the truth.
