NNPCL Officials reject Accusations of Theft, highlights Struggles in Oil Industry
According to Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, the company’s personnel are not responsible for the country’s substandard importation of petroleum products.
On Wednesday, he addressed the Senator Opeyemi Bamidele-led Ad-hoc Committee in Abuja regarding the alleged economic sabotage in the petroleum industry.
Kyari expressed frustration over the constant media criticism he has faced as the company’s GCEO. He believes that these attacks are aimed at falsely portraying NNPCL as a threat to the nation’s economy.
He claims that the company is trustworthy and will always be honest with the country.
He stated, “We are law-abiding citizens, and we do not engage in illegal activities. We will uphold our honour in order to faithfully serve this nation.
He further mentioned that the oil and gas industry is facing significant challenges and alluded to undisclosed information that he is unable to discuss publicly at this time.
He expressed his desire for all Nigerians to have the opportunity to watch the committee sessions live in the future.
