Politically Expired People Cannot See Tinubu’s Good Works—Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has criticised opponents who claim President Tinubu’s administration is underperforming, calling them “politically expired” and blind to current progress.

On Wednesday, Wike spoke during the flag-off and commissioning of road projects in Abuja’s Ushafa-Bwari region, addressing long-time political critics who, he alleged, had switched parties since 1999 but still refuse to acknowledge progress.

Let them hear. Allow those who lack vision, are politically inactive, and have been members of more than ten political parties since 1999 to see what you’re doing.

“Whatever channel people choose, they will see Mr President. Despite this, many people believe that nothing is working. Must we come to their homes before they realise something is working? Unfortunately, we will not go to their homes,” Wike said.

The commissioning commemorated the dualisation and upgrade of the War College/Army checkpoint road and other auxiliary roads in the FCT’s Ushafa-Bwari axis, with Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, representing President Tinubu, in attendance.

Wike also took the opportunity to compliment the contractors and the FCT project coordinator for completing their tasks. He did, however, issue a firm reminder of his leadership style and standards.

“Working with me isn’t easy. If you can survive working for me, you can survive anywhere else. You cannot be nominated for a position only for ‘chop’.

“You must work. You must make sacrifices and demonstrate your capacity. Some people believe that a position is given just for the purpose of publicity. “Some use it as an opportunity to express themselves rather than doing the actual work,” the minister stated.

Wike praised President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima for physically identifying with populations in satellite towns, emphasising the “unprecedented” attention being paid to neglected areas of the FCT.

“This is the first time a sitting president and vice president would visit satellite communities to connect with the locals. This has never happened. “This initiative demonstrates Mr. President’s affection for the satellite towns,” the former Rivers governor added.

He explained that the recently commissioned road project is part of a larger endeavour to bring development to disadvantaged villages throughout the FCT.
