Governor Fubara Vows Unity With State Assembly, Reaffirms Commitment to Inclusive Governance
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed his commitment to fostering a harmonious relationship with the State House of Assembly and delivering inclusive governance for the people of Rivers State.
In a statewide broadcast, Governor Fubara reflected on the recent political turbulence, describing the period of emergency rule as one of the most challenging in the state’s history. Despite the difficulties, he emphasized that his decision not to challenge the presidential peace declaration was driven by a firm belief that no sacrifice is too great for the peace and stability of Rivers State.
“The President graciously brokered peace during this period, and we all accepted it—though not without hard lessons learned,” Fubara stated.
He expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for what he called a “fatherly intervention” that restored full democratic governance to the state. He also acknowledged the contributions of his political leader and former governor, Nyesom Wike, as well as the Senate President, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and other stakeholders who played key roles in maintaining peace.
Governor Fubara thanked the Speaker and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly for their cooperation and pledged to work closely with them to rebuild trust, recover lost ground, and advance the state’s social and economic development.
Addressing concerns from his supporters, the governor assured them that all hope is not lost.
“Not everything is irretrievably lost. The costly peace is still cheaper than the cheapest war,” he remarked.
He emphasized the importance of setting aside personal interests in favor of the common good and reiterated his administration’s resolve to resume and complete all ongoing development projects.
Finally, Governor Fubara praised the resilience, peaceful conduct, and unwavering support of the people of Rivers State throughout the crisis, reaffirming his dedication to inclusive and people-focused governance.
