2026 will be less challenging if Nigerians embrace one another — Fintiri
Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, CON, has congratulated the people of Adamawa State and Nigerians nationwide on the commencement of the 2026 New Year, urging citizens to embrace unity, forgiveness and renewed commitment to national development.
In a New Year message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosoiku, the governor called on Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of love, reconciliation and selfless service to God and humanity, noting that collective goodwill remains critical to peace and progress in the year ahead.
Governor Fintiri stressed that national cohesion and mutual acceptance would significantly reduce challenges in 2026, adding that peace is achievable if citizens see one another as partners in nation-building. He encouraged Nigerians to reflect on the blessings of the past year and give thanks to God for the gift of life and the opportunity to witness another year.
The governor expressed gratitude to the people of Adamawa State for their consistent support over the past six and a half years, assuring them that his administration remains committed to supporting citizens in their pursuit of personal and collective advancement. He reaffirmed his government’s resolve to deepen policies and programmes that improve livelihoods across the state.
Acknowledging the difficulties faced by the country in previous years, Governor Fintiri urged Nigerians to remain optimistic, emphasising the importance of prayer, resilience and cooperation in driving recovery and sustainable growth. He noted that effective collaboration between government, the private sector and citizens is essential to overcoming Nigeria’s socio-economic challenges and unlocking new opportunities.
On security, the governor reassured residents that his administration would consolidate on existing achievements by increasing investment in security infrastructure, intelligence gathering and preventive strategies aimed at curbing crime. He commended security agencies for their sacrifices and dedication to maintaining peace and stability in the state.
Governor Fintiri reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to human capital development, particularly through youth and women empowerment initiatives, skills acquisition and entrepreneurship programmes. He also affirmed that physical infrastructure development, including the execution of legacy projects, would continue across all senatorial districts.
Calling for collective responsibility, the governor urged citizens to join hands in building a new Adamawa State where no one is left behind and no sector is neglected. He concluded by wishing Nigerians a peaceful and prosperous 2026, pledging to continue working diligently to meet public expectations in the remaining period of his administration.
