FACT-CHECK: Documents show Boni Haruna lied against Bindow on 150 billion naira Adamawa debt profile claims

The former governor of Adamawa State, Boni Haruna, on March 15, 2019 said the Bindow led government has taken about 150 billion naira loan and there is nothing to show for it.

He made this claim while addressing the press prior to 2019 conclusive governorship polls in Adamawa.

The former governor said human capital development was crucial in economic growth and job creation.

In his words, “In the face of all the in-flows from the statutory allocations and internally generated revenue the state was still thrown into debt of over 150bn, so there is nothing commensurate to show for the huge receipts from the federation account and other bailout funds received.”

THE CLAIM
“In the face of all the in-flows from the statutory allocations and internally generated revenue the state was still thrown into debt of over 150bn, so there is nothing commensurate to show for the huge receipts from the federation account and other bailout funds received.”
Verification Of Claim

According to the investigation carried out by this news medium, and documents sighted by our correspondent, Gov. Jibrilla Bindow has not taken a dime to finance any capital projects since the advent of his administration, although the bank source told this news medium that fake news purveyors are responsible for the lies in the public domain “look Adamawa State under Bindow’s watch incurred about 42 billion naira loan through budget support funds which every state in Nigeria is entitled to, others are the bailout funds also given to state, if put together, Bindow’s government only incurred over 42 billlion naira loan not the 150 billion naira as claim by Boni Haruna during an interview with the press”.

The claim by the former governor that Bindow government has so far taken 150billion naira loan is, therefore, FALSE.

previous fact check had also shown that Bindow’s government has constructed more roads than any government since the creation of Adamawa.
