PFN protest former Adamawa CAN chairman failed kidnap attempt; demands death sentence for kidnappers; say Fintiri’s silence on kidnapping in Adamawa unacceptable

Members of Pentecostal fellowship of Nigeria, (PFN) Adamawa state chapter, threaten to occupy Adamawa state government house if Gov. Fintiri fails to send Anti-kidnapping bill to the state house of assembly.

The leader of the group, Moses Penuel said “it is unacceptable that residents of Yola are now leaving in fear due to the activities of the kidnappers that operate without any resistance.

The leader of the group who promise to lead protests if Fintiri fails to impose tougher sanctions on the kidnapper that operate in the state, accused the Fintiri State government of being insensitive to the plights of victims of kidnap.

Moses said Adamawa residents are tired of claims by the state Government hat kidnappers and a Shila boy has been technically defeated.

He said, “The killing and kidnapping of God’s children is evil; the failure to protect innocent people from the relentless attacks is evil, the lack of prosecution of kidnappers is evil, our government’s response to kidnap attacks is, for lack of better words, far below average.

“There have been too many kidnappings of both high and low profile residents of Jiemta in recent times, invasion of people’s homes, invasion of sacred places like churches, mosques and seminaries.

“Fintiri’s silence on the issue of kidnapping in Adamawa amount to sowing and breeding seeds of mistrust and the longer it stays this way, the more you lose those who could have given you the benefit of the doubt.

“As things stand now, it appears only a few Adamawa residents can defend Fintiri with reasons, only a few residents can argue that Fintiri’s silence is not an endorsement of the barbaric actions of these kidnappers and criminals operating on daily basis in Adamawa.

The group admonished Fintiri to go beyond condolence visit and condemnation of activities of kidnappers to practical solution by recommending dead sentence for kidnappers in Adamawa state.

“We cannot understand why the government’s reaction to the failed kidnapping attempt on a former chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Mike Moses has not shown that there is going to be any consequences for those responsible.

“As we march, pray and want to protest, we want Gov. Fintiri to without delay send Anti-kidnapping bill to the Adamawa state house of assembly and also proffer death sentence for kidnappers in the state.”
