Breaking: Election expenses: Arrest Sen. Abbo Ishaku now, Group charges Inspector General of police

The Chairman, Adamawa united for change, Alhaji usman Abubakar has asked the Inspector general of Police, Mohammed Adamu to arrest the senator representing Adamawa north in the Nigerian senate, Ishaku Abbo for breaching section 91 of the electoral act that peg limit of spending of a candidate on election expenses.

Abbo boost of spending over 50 million naira on his campaign expenses in 2015 in breaching of section 91 of the electoral act as amended.

 

The group gave Inec and the police 14 days ultimatum to prosecute Abbo base on his confessional statement or face legal action.

Section 91 of the Principal Act is amended by- (a) substituting for subsection (4), a new subsection “(4)”- “(4) The maximum amount of election expenses to be incurred by a candidate in respect of Senatorial and House of Representatives seats shall be N40,000,000 and N20,000,000 respectively”;
