No plan to ban commercial tricycles as 15 political parties endorse Fintiri for a second term.

Adamawa State Governor Umaru Fintiri denied rumours that he was considering making commercial tricycles, known as Keke Napep, illegal throughout the state.

Humwashi Wonosoiku, the governor’s chief press secretary, made the clarification Wednesday in Yola. However, Wonosoiku clarified that Adamawa state has never considered banning tricycles in the state, describing the rumour as baseless and spread by elements hell-bent on circumventing the will of the people, which will be resisted.

“The rumours circulating that the government intends to ban their operations beginning Thursday are a figment of some people’s imagination,” he said. “At no time did the government consider the idea; it was the work of mischief-makers,” he said.

Fintiri explained that the government is concerned about the unruly behaviour of some bad elements who refuse to see any good in the government’s actions and are intent on impeding the state’s progress towards providing basic amenities and a conducive environment for businesses to thrive.

Meanwhile, With less than 48 hours until the March 11, 2023 elections in Nigeria, the Forum of Political Parties (FPP) in Adamawa State has unanimously endorsed the People’s Democratic Party in Adamawa’s gubernatorial candidate, Umaru Fintiri, for another four-year term as governor of the state.

The FPP is the state’s umbrella organisation for both registered political parties.

On March 8, 2023, Muhammad Abdulkadir, Chairman of the Forum for Adamawa State, stated this. He also stated that the FPP’s 16 registered political parties decided to support Fintiri’s re-election bid because of the candidate’s impressive track record in both private and public life.

The event was attended by the 16 party chairmen, members, and supporters of Nigeria’s 16 registered political parties.

According to Abdukadir, Fintiri has maintained the highest level of leadership, with a keen interest in the effective development and utilisation of human and material resources, which he demonstrated as governor of Adamawa State.

“The Forum of Political Parties (FPP) is an umbrella organisation for Adamawa State’s registered political parties. The FPP has 16 registered political parties with full political structures on the ground in all 21 local government areas of Adamawa State.

“Political parties’ primary role is to checkmate political governance. And FPP has done just that over the years, ensuring that Adamawa State and Nigerians get the best in leadership by blazing the trail in electing the right and people-centric political leadership across the board.

“As key stakeholders in Adamawa’s democratic governance, the 2023 elections represent a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Adamawas to get it right.

“For over six months, that informed our decisions to evaluate the governorship candidates of all political parties in the race for the upcoming gubernatorial elections.” We’ve read their manifestos.

“Following a series of stakeholder and Board of Trustees meetings, we became unwaveringly convinced that only one of the governorship candidates possesses the basic prerequisites and intimidating pedigree to consolidate Adamawa’s development, unite the state, and redefine democracy as a government of, by, and for the people. Umaru Fintiri of the People’s Democratic Party is that one man.

“We are here today to endorse him for the top job and to ensure that all of the party leadership, members, and supporters of the 16 registered political parties here today at the event work together to ensure Umaru Fintiri’s victory in the governorship elections,” Abdukadir said.

He went on to say how Fintiri turned around Adamawa’s infrastructure and economy as governor between 2019 and 2023, and how he gave people from different tribes opportunities in his administration.

As a result, Abdukadir promised that the group would deliver over 400,000 votes for Fintiri in Adamawa’s governorship election.
