DSS DG didn’t loot staff funds, says spokesman
Peter Afunanya, the DSS’s director of public relations and strategic communications, has denied that Yusuf Bichi, the agency’s director general, stole a subsidised grant from the agency’s staff.
Afunanya assured the employees that they would receive the funds as soon as they became available, despite the fact that the agency had not yet received the funding.
According to the DSS spokesman, who informed media of this in a statement released on Saturday, the “goodbye allowance” that the DG was said to have given himself never existed.
“The Service hereby states that the allegations are entirely false,” some of the words that made up the document.
Please be informed that the DG and anyone following his orders have not embezzled any funds from the staff subsidy programme.
Staff will, as per normal, get their dues once the Service is given the funds, but no such grant has been made available.
All things considered, it is clear that Mr. Bichi has looked out for the interests of both active and retiring staff. Everyone knows this and it’s verifiable. The so-called “goodbye allowance” that the DG was alleged to have given himself does not exist either. The writer and his sponsors are the only ones whose imaginations are involved. How, then, could it be considered immoral and contrary to the accepted rule of public service if the DG were to get a severance compensation upon completion of his term?
While Mr. Bichi is up to no good, the writer persists in painting him in a negative light and portraying him as corrupt, despite the fact that the DSS evidence proves otherwise.
Appointed DGSS after being called from retirement in 2018, Bichi is portrayed as austere, responsible, open, and uncorruptible.
According to the report, he has consistently demonstrated unwavering dedication to leading the Service and has handled its business with exceptional rigour. He warned the public not to believe the claims and that the DG would seek legal action.
