Ethiopian Airlines Bans Use of ‘Ghana-Must-Go’ Bag
Flights departing from Nigeria would not accept “Ghana-must-go” baggage, according to Ethiopian Airlines.
Many Nigerian travellers choose the Ghana-must-go bags, which are sac-like load carriers available in a variety of colours and sizes, for their cost and durability.
Our reporter was able to confirm that the prohibition was effective as of November 25, 2023, after reviewing a letter that was addressed to the Regional Manager of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria and dated November 24, 2023.
“We would like to inform you that as of November 25, 2023, it is prohibited to use Ghana Must Go to travel on our flight,” the letter stated.
“The use of Ghana Must Go as a means of packing baggage has resulted in significant financial losses for the airlines and has caused damage to the conveyor belt systems.
This issue has affected not only our flight but also other international airlines, which is why the prohibition was enforced.”
Still, passengers may keep using the bags as long as they were securely packaged in rectangular hardcover cartons, as long as that was OK with the airline.
