RTEAN and the Lagos State Government reach a peaceful resolution-General-Secretary
Following federal intervention, the Lagos State Government and the Road Transport Employers’ Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) were able to peacefully resolve their dispute.
Mr. Yusuf Adeniyi, the General Secretary of RTEAN, announced this on Saturday in Abuja.
The association and the Lagos State Government have reached a peaceful agreement, and we are glad to announce it on behalf of the RTEAN National Executive Council (N.E.C.) members.
This follows the Federal Government of Nigeria’s intervention, which was in line with the provision of item six of the MoU dated October 2, 2023, between the Federal Government and organised labour.
“In order to strengthen industrial peace and guarantee strict obedience to the rule of law, the following resolutions were agreed during the crisis of the MoU.”
He claimed that the unanimous appointment of a new state chairman had resolved the controversial issue of RTEAN leadership.
He claims that as of January 1, Mr. Adesina Teslim-Hussaini has taken over as chairman of RTEAN Lagos State.
According to Adeniyi, the union would now receive the restored Lagos State RTEAN and any items that have been taken away.
Starting immediately, RTEAN will be operational in all Lagos State automobile parks.
“The union and the Lagos State Government will not hold any RTEAN member accountable for their involvement in the conflict.”
He pleaded on the group’s members to respect the amicable settlement and work together with the authorities to carry out their missions.
Adeniyi expressed gratitude to everyone who helped bring about a peaceful resolution to the problem.
