Fintiri warns against misuse of agricultural equipment
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on Tuesday handed over 42 newly procured tractors and agricultural implements to the 21 local government councils in Adamawa State as part of efforts to boost food production and reduce reliance on manual farming.
The handover took place at the Adamawa State Agricultural Mechanisation Authority in Yola.
Fintiri said the intervention reflects his administration’s commitment to making agriculture a key driver of economic growth, employment and rural development.
The tractors, jointly procured by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry for Local Government Affairs, will be deployed to farmers through the councils ahead of the 2026 farming season.
He said the initiative aligns with the administration’s 8 Point Agenda and supports efforts to improve productivity, strengthen agricultural value chains and enhance food security.
Fintiri said mechanisation was essential to modern agriculture, adding that increased access to tractors would improve land preparation, speed up cultivation and raise output.
He urged council officials to maintain the equipment and ensure it is used solely to support farmers.
“These machines are not for personal use or political patronage. They are public assets meant to serve genuine farmers and farming communities across the state,” he said.
