Ireti Kingibe demands an apology from Wike.

In response to Nyesom Wike’s remarks in which he threatened to depose Ireti Kingibe as the FCT senator in 2027, Kingibe has requested an apology. Wike is the minister of the FCT.

Since each of them took office, Kingibe and Wike’s working relationship has been strained. On multiple times, the two politicians have criticised one another.

Kingibe was confronted by the minister, who wanted to know what she had accomplished since being elected to represent her community.

But the senator took offence, claiming that Wike is far younger than her.

She claims that Wike should not address her in such way since it is impolite.

No hard feelings if he does grasp the FCT idea; if not, it’s irrelevant. He states, “I am not interested in being her friend.” On Channels Television’s Political Paradigm, she asked, “How does governance translate into friendship?”

“I’m truly prepared to go to any lengths to collaborate with the Federal Capital Territory Minister, but only after he apologises for suggesting that I lean on a transformer.

“Once he does that, it’s game over.” Until we can start over, everyone needs to stay in their own lane. To be completely honest, I’m a lot older than him. He must not even be courteous to address me in such a manner.

The FCT senator was told by Wike on July 1 that he would not be re-elected in 2027, in a threat he issued. At the Abuja Mabushi Bus Terminal construction flag-off ceremony, the minister made the case that the legislator had failed to deliver since taking office.

We should be proud of ourselves if we have succeeded. We haven’t done well if that’s the case. Despite President Tinubu’s brief appointment, the FCT minister is pleased with the team’s performance.

“You stated that there are no schools or hospitals.” As a lawmaker, what have you accomplished? Could you tell me the total number of bills you have sponsored to enhance our healthcare and education systems?

“I dare that lawmaker. If you’re famous, you should run for office in Abuja in 2027. We’ll let you down.

To become the senator of the FCT, Kingibe—a member of the Labour Party (LP)—defeated Philip Aduda—an associate of Wike—in the 2023 election.

Ever since, senator Wike has accused the minister of the FCT of ignoring her while she represents the capital territory, and the two have been at odds ever since.

Kingibe allegedly attacked Wike because he had nominated her to lead the Senate Committee on the FCT.

Senator Kingibe claimed that Wike ignored her calls while the capital city was under siege. Subsequently, she claimed that he did not care about the people of the FCT.
