We are addressing Adamawa’s water shortage, Fintiri assures residents.
The Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Finiri, has shown great concern regarding the recent water crisis in the state. He has made a commitment to promptly resolve this issue in a timely manner.
In a statement released by the chief press secretary to the governor, Humwashi Wonosoiku, the governor expressed confidence in resolving the issue of water scarcity in certain areas of Adamawa state. The governor reassured the residents that this challenge will soon be overcome.
Fintiri made it clear that he understood the difficulties people encountered when trying to access clean drinking water in specific parts of the state.
He acknowledged the water shortage as a result of the ongoing refurbishing of all the water plants in the 21 local government areas of the state and promised to address it within a specific timeframe.
The governor highlighted the fact that nearly every water plant has faced challenges that necessitate the importation of spare parts.
Fintiri mentioned a plan to install solar panels on boreholes in the state to address potential power failures that could impact the water supply.
He emphasised the importance of addressing the broader water scarcity challenges in the state, acknowledging that this is a complex issue that requires long-term commitment.
The government has made significant improvements to facilities across the state, ensuring the smooth operation of water treatment plants by providing necessary chemicals to the Water Board. Additionally, new pipelines have been laid from Jimeta to Mbamba in Yola South.
In addition, more than 200 boreholes have been drilled to tackle water supply issues in areas that previously lacked access.
It is worth mentioning that places like Mubi, which had been deprived of running water for more than four decades, now have a consistent water supply, all thanks to the governor’s intervention. This is a clear demonstration of the administration’s dedication to guaranteeing universal access to clean water, no matter where individuals are located.
