“Instruct Edun to defrost accounts of NSIPA within 72 hours,” Tinubu Urged by Representatives
Representatives in the House have pleaded with President Bola Tinubu to direct Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Wale Edun to restore all NSIPA accounts that have been blocked within the next three days.
Their position was that reopening the accounts would pave the way for NSIPA’s programs to resume normally.
To ensure that all NSIPA initiatives are running well, the house is also requesting that the minister responsible for humanitarian affairs and disaster management eliminate any administrative obstacles that are in the way.
The resolutions were sponsored by a motion that included the deputy speaker and twenty additional parliamentarians.
The NSIPA initiatives are crucial for reducing poverty, empowering young, and promoting economic inclusion in Nigeria. However, the agency’s ability to do its job has been impeded by administrative red tape, inadequate financing, and blocked funds, which has troubled lawmakers.
The programs of NSIPA were cut short, the agency’s bank account was frozen, and anti-corruption and security authorities began investigating after allegations of financial misconduct by program managers surfaced.
