“We are now fused”: Fintiri takes full control of Adamawa APC
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has declared Adamawa “fully APC” following what he described as a historic state congress marked by the formal fusion of defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party into the ruling party.
Addressing party members in Yola on Saturday, Fintiri said the congress represented a turning point for the All Progressives Congress in the state, noting that the alignment process had moved beyond negotiation into a complete merger of structures from ward to state level.

He said the decision by former PDP members to join the APC was welcomed in line with the party’s tradition of alliances, adding that compromises — including adjustments to the congress timetable — made the transition possible.
“The journey may have been short, but it has shown that we truly need each other and can work together,” he said, describing the process as evidence of political maturity and collective resolve.
Fintiri praised Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership, alongside party officials including national chairman Nentawe Yilwatda and national security adviser Nuhu Ribadu, for supporting the merger.
With new executives now in place across all levels, the governor said the party had fulfilled constitutional requirements and was positioned to dominate future elections. He urged members to remain committed and wary of opportunists seeking personal advantage.
“Some may not have gotten what they wanted, but none of us is a loser. We are all winners,” he said.
Fintiri also used the occasion to assert his leadership over the party in the state and pledged to deliver Adamawa to President Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
“I am going all out, with boots on and sleeves rolled up, to win,” he declared.
The governor announced the formation of the Adamawa Renewed Hope 226 Movement (ARH226M), a grassroots political structure designed to mobilise support across all 226 wards. He named himself patron, with the deputy governor as chairman, and included government officials and local representatives as members.
He directed all existing support groups to collapse into the new movement, warning that political relevance would be measured by the ability to deliver votes.
“This movement is not stopping until it delivers all 226 wards to the president,” Fintiri said.
He concluded by congratulating the newly elected party executives and urging them to ensure fairness, accountability and inclusiveness as they begin their work.
