Adamawa 2027:Kumangar urges APC aspirants to step aside for Salihu Bakari Girei ahead of 2027 poll
A former Director General of Media to Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and one time Permanent Secretary in the Adamawa State Ministry of Information and Strategy, Kumangar, has called on all governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress in the state to step aside in the interest of competence and unity, and adopt Salihu Bakari Girei as their sole candidate for the 2027 general election.
Kumangar said the move would not only strengthen the party’s chances at the polls but also ensure that Adamawa benefits from tested leadership and administrative experience. According to him, the party risks weakening its electoral prospects if it allows internal rivalry to overshadow merit and capacity.
He described Bakari as a candidate whose career reflects consistency, discipline and measurable impact across multiple sectors. He noted that Bakari began his professional journey as a classroom teacher, where he demonstrated a strong commitment to education and human capital development before transitioning into public service.
Kumangar further pointed out that Bakari’s tenure as Chairman of the Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board was marked by reforms aimed at improving access to quality basic education, strengthening institutional frameworks and enhancing accountability in the management of resources.
Beyond the state level, he said Bakari also distinguished himself through his work at the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, where he contributed to policies and programmes that supported infrastructure development and capacity building in tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
“These are verifiable records of service that clearly set him apart,” Kumangar said, adding that none of the other aspirants in the race can point to a similar breadth of experience and achievement.
He argued that the APC in Adamawa must prioritise competence over personal ambition, stressing that consensus around a credible candidate would position the party as a serious alternative ahead of the 2027 contest.
Kumangar also appealed to party leaders and stakeholders to rally behind Bakari, urging them to put aside individual interests for the collective good of the party and the state. He maintained that adopting a single, widely accepted candidate would reduce internal friction, promote unity and allow the party to focus on presenting a clear and compelling agenda to the electorate.
He concluded that Adamawa stands at a critical juncture and requires leadership with proven capacity, vision and integrity to drive sustainable development and improve the welfare of its people.
