Governor Bindow launches state health insurance scheme, inaugurates board members.

In effort to provide quality health care service delivery, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Adamawa state, Senator Mohammed Umar Jibrilla, has launched and inaugurated the members of the state Health Insurance Scheme.  Launching the scheme at government house banquet hall in Yola, Governor Jibrilla said it is with great joy to launch and inaugurated the members of the scheme today.

He noted that the aim of the scheme is to create a platform to collect contributions from all citizens and as well provide them access to health care service delivery.

 

 

Governor Bindow bolstered that since the assumption of his administration he has been working round the clock to raise the standard of healthcare facility in the state. Adding that three months after the birth of his administration, he mounted a draft to lift the health care sector in the state by launching a project to refurbished, modernized and reequipped existing key hospitals in the state, maintaining that this led to the improved in healthcare service delivers in the state.

 

Therefore, the Governor maintained that since the inception of his administration he has been partnering with developmental partners in making great contributions towards improving the healthcare system for the benefit of the people of the state.

 

 

 

Hence, he used the medium to highlighted some of his administration notable achievements as follow: employment of two thousand three hundred and seven (2,307) health workers including 373 nurses and midwives, 23 medical doctors; 13 pharmacists, 17 laboratories scientists and as well 566 healthcare workers at the local government primary health clinics.

 

Upgraded 403 PHCs to the status of delivery twenty four hours service with 21 facilities elevated to the level of centres of excellence with the capacity to provide emergency obstetric and neonatal care. Others are: rehabilitated some secondary health care facilities in Numan, Ganye, Jada; Fufore, Maiha, Gulak; Michika and Specialist Hospital. Installation of solar energy in partnership with UKAID at Mubi, Michika and Garkida general hospitals among others.

 

 

 

Other successes recorded are: Accreditation of both School of Health Technology and College of Nursing and Midwifery. Training and overseeing 60 medical students in India etc. Consequently, Senator Jibrilla said the reason for today’s gathering is to launch the State Health Insurance Scheme. Nothing that this journey began over a year ago and thanked God that they among the living witnessed of the official launching and inauguration of the board members.

 

Earlier, in her opening remarks, the Honourable Commissioner of Health, Dr. Fatima Atiku, said today marks a major milestone in Adamawa state’s long time journey in actualizing the achievement of Universal Health Coverage.

 

Stating that it’s culminated eight years of tireless effort towards ensuring that all citizens of Adamawa state irrespective of their socio -economic status, gender or age in accessing quality healthcare service delivery. Thus, Dr. Abubakar maintained that it was with excitement to say all the residents of the state will soon enjoy the health benefits covered under the scheme such as maternal, child care service, emergency and minor surgeries among others.

 

Therefore, she appealed to all stakeholders not to relent in their effort in promoting access to quality and affordable healthcare service delivery for Adamawa state indigents. Separately, in their goodwill messages, the representatives of the World Health Organization and National Health Insurance Scheme, Pharmacist Iyobosa Igbinovia and Hajiya Halima, both congratulated the state government and people of the state for formidable launching of the scheme in the state.

 

They promised that they will continue to support the state government to actualize its plan for better healthcare service delivery in the state.
