Fintiri govt paying lips service to workers welfare; as Adamawa workers cry wolf over promotion arrears payment

The chairman, Adamawa first Initiative, Ibrahim Luka have admonished Adamawa state government to stop treating the issue of workers promotion arrears with levity, noting that such disposition of the government is creating panic and fear among Adamawa workers that believe Fintiri’s government has their interest at heart.

Luka said it was sad that the government has not even shown a clear pattern to take charge of workers main problem in Adamawa as workers were promoted without cash backing.

“It is unfortunate that workers in Adamawa wake up each day to lament woeful news of non-implementation of their promotion arrears, how can Fintiri government claim they are paying minimum wage without promotion arrears and the NLC leadership still keep silent, a worker on level 9 collecting is still collecting salary of level 6 how do they pay such person minimum wage to reflect his or her current level without first paying the promotion arrears?

“For instance a worker on grade level 9 still collecting salary of level 6, how do they intend to implement the consequential adjustment on such a person without first payment of the promotion arrears that has pile up, because the government cannot pay consequential adjust of grade level 6 to grade level 9 workers and still cannot also pay level 6 adjustment to level 9 without payment of promotion arrear.

“The lack of clear pattern of governing Adamawa state by the Fintiri led state government and lip service commitments to worker’s welfare on the part of the Adamawa state government have made many workers living in fear day to day.

“There seems to be no end in sight especially with the self-aggrandisement by the Fintiri government that workers welfare is been taken care of. Time is running out for Fintiri if the workers welfare they promised is not improved. We call on trade union leaders in Adamawa to please save workers from the present quagmire that befell them under the present administration in Adamawa,” they pleaded.
