Tinubu Asked Aiyedatiwa To Sign Undated Resignation Letter – Ondo Commissioner withdraw the appeal.

According to the Ondo State Commissioner for Information, Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, President Bola Tinubu, in his involvement in the state’s political turmoil, requested a signed resignation letter from the state’s Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa. After a months-long political deadlock with the governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, Aiyedatiwa presided over the state’s executive council meeting on Thursday.   Tinubu convened the executive council meeting after summoning warring factions loyal to Akeredolu and Aiyedatiwa to resolve the state’s political issue. Tinubu’s involvement meant that Akeredolu stayed governor and Aiyedatiwa remained deputy governor, according to the Presidency.   However, Ademola-Olateju, stated that the President later requested a signed undated resignation from the deputy governor in case anything untoward occurred. “First and foremost, before I even speak about the Abuja meeting, I want to thank the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for being a very good leader in the midst of the Ondo State crisis.”   “We thank him for intervening to cool the temperature that was just going haywire in Ondo State.”Mr President, the leader of our party, the All Progressives Congress, made crucial choices at the Abuja meeting.   The important decisions were to retain the state’s status quo. He decided that the executive council would not be dissolved under any circumstances, that the party structure would be maintained, and that the leadership of the House of Assembly would remain intact, and he nominated three people to be enforcers and to prevent further problems: the Secretary to the State Government, the party chairman, and the speaker of the house.   “He asked for the signed resignation letter of Honourable Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the Deputy Governor undated in case anything untoward happens, so that is what I know,” the commissioner went on to say.   The Ondo State House of Assembly and its Speaker also abandoned an appeal filed before the Court of Appeal in Abuja against a verdict by the Federal High Court in Abuja that halted Aiyedatiwa’s planned impeachment.   The House of Assembly and its Speaker had disputed the Federal High Court in Abuja’s jurisdiction to hear the case and had appealed the court’s judgement suspending the planned impeachment of the deputy governor.

German and Nigerian Authorities Reach Accord to Speed Up Siemens Power Project.

On Friday, Germany and Africa’s most populous nation, Nigeria, inked an agreement to enhance power supply under the Presidential Power Initiative. President Bola Tinubu and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz presided over the signing in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, according to a statement released by Special Adviser to the President Ajuri Ngelale.   Germany was represented by Nadja Haakansson, managing director (Africa) of Siemens AG, while Nigeria was represented by Kenny Anuwe, managing director of the Federal Government of Nigeria Power Company. Managing Director of the FGN Power Company, Mr. Kenny Anuwe, spoke after the signing ceremony in Dubai. He praised Siemens Energy for successfully delivering vital equipment to the country, valued at over 63 million Euros, since the project began, according to the release.    The following are the transformers that FGN Power Company is now installing at different locations around Nigeria: 10 units of 132/33KV mobile substations, 3 units of 75/100MVA transformers, and 7 units of 60/66MVA transformers. “The project will also put an emphasis on identified load demand centres, particularly economic and industrial hubs across the country.    It will prioritise the execution of new 330kV and 132/33KV substations in these centres, as well as the construction of thousands of kilometres of overhead transmission lines to link these substations to existing ones.”   According to the presidential spokesman, Tinubu has been a strong supporter of speeding up the PPI’s implementation and expansion since taking office. The spokesman added that the project was a central focus of three rounds of bilateral discussions during multiple meetings between the president and the German chancellor, which took place in Berlin, Abuja, and New Delhi.   Ngelale claims that the arrangement will modernise and expand Nigeria’s electric power transmission grid from beginning to end within 18 to 24 months using equipment made by Siemens.   He stressed that the arrangement will guarantee the project’s longevity and upkeep by transferring all relevant technologies to the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and providing training for local engineers.
