“We Owe It To Nigerians To Live Up To Their Expectations,” Tinubu Charges New Ministers
The newly appointed ministers have been charged by President Bola Tinubu to work together with him and amongst themselves to realise the hopes and dreams of the Nigerian people.
The inauguration ceremony for the 45 confirmed ministers-designate took place on Monday at the Conference Centre of the State House in Abuja, where he delivered the charge.
If this is a car and I’m the driver, the whole Nigerian population is sitting and watching behind us as you and I make our way through the water. Each of us needs to take responsibility;
To live up to the hopes of all Nigerians, we must complete the task at hand.
You are a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Tinubu remarked, not of any one state, colony, area, or ethnic nationality.
In his remarks, the President also emphasised the importance of teamwork and emphasised the tremendous distinction of being selected to serve as a minister in the Federal Executive Council.
He continued, saying that the vast majority of Nigerians trust on them to do their jobs with honesty and fairness and to treat everyone they interact with with respect.
After today’s ministerial inauguration, we will work even harder as a government to bring forth the finest possible future for Nigeria. It’s crucial to have a strong team, and I think we do.
To be appointed to a position in the federal executive council of our cherished nation is a great honour.In this time of great potential and danger, such a high position of honour carries with it a weighty obligation. You newly sworn-in officials have been asked to make a name for themselves. The majority of Nigerians are counting on you to deliver, be accountable, and be transparent because I know you and have given you this responsibility.
“The people of Nigeria have faith in your ability to serve with honour, respect, and results. That is the bar I intend to keep for you. The timer for your task kicked off right away. Now that your country has honoured you with this call to duty, he urged you to prove your value to God and the people of the United States.
The list of portfolios for the appointments was provided by President Tinubu less than a week ago and was revised again on Sunday, just before the ministers were sworn in.
A number of new ministers have taken office, including former Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike as Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Wale Edun as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola as Minister of the Marine and Blue Economy, David Umahi as Minister of Works, Festus Keyamo as Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, and Betta Edu as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
Adedayo Adelabu (minister of power), Tunisia Alausa (minister of state, health, and social welfare), Dele Alake (minister of solid mineral development), Lola Ade-John (minister of tourism), Sa’idu Alkali (minister of transportation), and Bunmi Tunji-Ojo (minister of the interior) were also sworn in.
