IPMAN,Dangote Agree to Directly Lift Petrol,Diesel
The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has reached an agreement with Dangote Refinery to transport products directly.
Abubakar Garima, the National President of IPMAN, disclosed this information in Abuja on Monday following a meeting of the Association’s National Working Committee.
He stated that the partnership will guarantee a consistent and cost-effective supply of PMS products throughout the country.
Girima stated Dangote Refinery has consented to providing IPMAN with PMS, AGO, and DPK for direct distribution to our depots and retail outlets, following a meeting with Aliko Dangote and his management team in Lagos. We are delighted to announce this announcement.
Garima urged IPMAN members to support Dangote Refinery, citing the beneficial impacts on Nigeria’s foreign exchange market and the benefits of backward integration.
Garima expressed confidence that negotiations with Dangote would result in decreased rates with respect to pricing.
Regarding compressed natural gas (CNG), The president of IPMAN stated that the association is in the process of negotiating with the presidential CNG initiative to ensure a smooth transition to CNG replenishment stations throughout the country.
We believe that this partnership will enhance the efficacy, affordability, and economic growth of Nigeria’s petroleum industry.
The Dangote refinery committed to the commencement of the provision of products to more than 30,000 IPMAN members and 150,000 retail outlets nationwide during the meeting.
We anticipate that this action will eliminate intermediaries, decrease expenses, and guarantee consistent supply.
Challenges in removing from Dangote
Previously, IPMAN had complained about the challenges marketers were encountering in removing products from the Dangote Refinery.
IPMAN expressed its disappointment that its members are unable to discharge petrol from the Dangote Refinery in Lagos, despite having paid the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) ₦40bn.
Nevertheless, Dangote Refinery denied the assertion made by IPMAN, stating that it has not received any remittances from IPMAN to purchase refined petroleum products.
It asserted that, despite the fact that discussions are currently underway with IPMAN, “it is inaccurate to speculate that they (IPMAN Members) are encountering challenges loading refined products from our petroleum refinery, as we do not have any direct business relationships with them.”
As a result, the company stated that it is not liable for any payments made to other entities, as the payment that was mentioned was made through NNPCL and not Dangote Refinery.
In the same vein, it was noted that NNPCL has not authorised or approved the company to release our Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to IPMAN.
IPMAN was advised by Dangote Refinery to register directly with the company and make payments for petroleum products, while also emphasising that it can satisfy Nigeria’s demand for all petroleum products.
