Wonosoiku dismisses claims linking Farauta to Fintiri’s resignation order

The Adamawa State Government has dismissed reports suggesting that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s recent directive requiring political appointees who have declared allegiance to other political parties to resign was aimed at the Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Humwashi Wonosoiku, clarified that the directive was a general policy decision intended to preserve loyalty, discipline and cohesion within the administration and was not targeted at any particular individual.

Wonosoiku’s clarification follows widespread speculation that the resignation order may have been directed at the Deputy Governor following recent political developments in the state.

Governor Fintiri had earlier directed all political office holders serving in his administration who had publicly declared allegiance to, or defected to, other political parties to immediately relinquish their appointments.

According to the Governor, the directive became necessary to maintain the integrity of government and ensure that only those committed to the administration’s policies and programmes continue to serve in public office.

However, the announcement generated debates in political circles, with some commentators alleging that the move was aimed at compelling the Deputy Governor to leave office.

Reacting to the claims, Wonosoiku described such interpretations as unfounded and misleading, stressing that the Deputy Governor was not affected by the directive.

He explained that the position of Deputy Governor is a constitutional office and cannot be equated with political appointments made by the Governor.

“The directive is clear and unambiguous. It applies to political office holders appointed by the Governor who have openly aligned themselves with other political parties while still serving in this administration. It has nothing to do with the Deputy Governor,” he said.

Wonosoiku further stated that attempts to drag the Deputy Governor into the controversy were politically motivated and intended to create unnecessary tension within the government.

He reiterated that the administration remains united and focused on delivering democratic dividends to the people of Adamawa State.

The Governor’s spokesman urged members of the public and political stakeholders to disregard rumours and avoid actions capable of heating up the political atmosphere ahead of future elections.

He maintained that Governor Fintiri’s administration remains committed to promoting good governance, transparency and accountability, while ensuring that government appointees uphold the principles of loyalty and collective responsibility.

Wonosoiku added that the government would continue to take decisions in the best interest of the state and would not be distracted by political speculations.
